Within the diocese of Dromore the Youth Ministry works in homes, schools, parishes and youth clubs delivering a variety of programmes designed to meet the changing needs of our young people.

The Pope John Paul II Award
The Pope John Paul II Award invites young people to step beyond their comfort zones and begin a journey of self-discovery, service, and faith.
It challenges each participant to give generously of their time, talents, intellect, and social gifts for the well-being of others and for the greater Glory of God.
The Mission Statement of the Diocesan Youth Commission states that its aim ‘is to promote for our young people a lifestyle that is based on the person of Jesus Christ who came to proclaim life to the full’. To do this it will help them to:
- Identify their faith development needs;
- Provide opportunities for an inclusive involvement in the Church; and
- Empower them to minister to their peers.
The Pope John Paul II Award provides a meaningful pathway for young people to become more deeply involved in their local parishes, enriching both their own spiritual journey and the life of the parish community.
At Confirmation, our young people receive the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit, and we pray that God will
“support them through every trial and, by their works of love, build up the Church in holiness and joy.” The Pope John Paul II Award offers a beautiful opportunity for them to live out this prayer — expressing their faith in action and helping to strengthen the Church.
We are confident that this award will inspire not only our young people, but also our parishes, volunteers, and parish organisations, to grow in awareness of the spiritual gifts, faith, and energy that young people bring to the Church.
