On Edward Street in Lurgan, our Adoration Chapel is a little sanctuary of peace, where heaven gently touches earth.
Once part of the Convent of the Sisters of Mercy, this holy place continues to echo with the prayers of countless souls who have come seeking the Lord. Today, it remains a place of welcome, where every heart is invited to enter, be still, and encounter the quiet, transforming love of Jesus.
At the centre of the chapel is the Blessed Sacrament. Here, Jesus Christ is truly and fully present in the Holy Eucharist—His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity—exposed in the monstrance upon the altar. He waits for us, not to ask anything extraordinary, but simply to be with Him.
Eucharistic Adoration is love responding to Love.
It is setting aside a little time to sit with Jesus, to gaze upon Him with the eyes of faith, and to allow Him to gaze lovingly upon us.
As St. John Vianney beautifully said:
“He looks at me, and I look at Him.”
Sometimes we come with words of thanksgiving or petition. Sometimes we bring our worries, our grief, our hopes, or our gratitude. Sometimes we come with nothing at all except our desire to be near Him.
And that is enough.
A Place to Be with the Lord
There is no expectation and no special formula.
You may wish to:
God often speaks most deeply in the silence.Within these quiet moments, anxious hearts find peace, weary souls discover rest, and faith is gently renewed.
Keeping Watch with Jesus
Our parish is blessed by those who generously commit to a regular hour of Adoration each week.
Like the disciples who were invited to keep watch with the Lord, each adorer offers the simple gift of faithful presence. Through this loving commitment, Jesus is never left alone, and a continuous chain of prayer rises from our parish each day.
If you feel drawn to spend an hour with the Lord each week, you will be warmly welcomed into this beautiful ministry of prayer.
An Invitation
Life can often be hurried and filled with many voices. The Adoration Chapel offers something different.
A place where silence speaks.
A place where burdens become lighter.
A place where hearts are healed.
A place where Christ waits with infinite patience and unfailing love.
Whether you stay for a few moments or a full hour, you are welcome.
Come as you are.
Bring your joys and your sorrows.
Bring your questions and your hopes.
Or simply bring yourself.
Jesus is waiting.
“The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth. Every moment that you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with Him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in Heaven.”
— St. Teresa of Calcutta
